L120: National Security Decision Making Game. NSDM is a fast-paced, challenging simulation of contemporary politics and eternal strategic principles, modeled after simulations used by senior U.S. Government officials to explore geopolitical options. A cross between a political LARP, Diplomacy, and a military board game, NSDM has has been presented at war colleges, civilian universities, and gaming conventions throughout the United States for 15 years. NSDM is set in the near future, using real-world maps and data to simulate national and international events. Players occupy a government position in the U.S., Russia, North Korea, China, or another country. The game staff creates interesting situations, and the players are set free to deal with these events - and each other. Each player has assigned objectives which reflect the actual views and capabilities that position has in the real world. The game staff most of whom are senior military officers and DoD war game designers - run whichever other countries or organizations are needed. "Real world" dynamics inexorably draw the players toward cooperation in some areas and conflict in others. Unlike other war games where one "team" of players defeats other teams, in the NSDM Game all players are individually ranked by the degree to which they gain advantage for the group they represent. At the beginning of this game, everyone chooses a symbol from a group of 20 symbols that range from dagger to icicle to a dragon's head. It really doesn't have much impact on the game, it just determines how their character's died. Every character remembers dying, and seeing a giant red symbol of Olidammara above them, but none of them remember how they got to the empty city. Awaking in the town square, along with a bag of limited supplies, the 4th level characters are left to explore the city...and to find it is not as entirely empty as it once seemed. Strange otherworldly creatures, a few insane and equally confused wandering people, and the reoccuring symbol of Olidamarra are littered throughout the quiet streets, and although there is no exit to escape through the impossibly tall city walls, there is a windowless castle, with a mysterious and magically locked door. Whether they like it or not, the adventurers are about to play one of Olidamarra's favorite games in an abandoned city with a dark past. How well they do will depend less upon their own abilities, as it will upon how well they work together as a team. How well will they work together though, when they realize that the quickest, easiest way to escape...is to betray each other? Olidammara's followers treasure freedom so highly that they will kill for it. Will you? Friday, 12:00AM - 4:00AM; One Round; All Materials Offered. Beginners Welcome; Serious, Under 18 Requires Parental Clearance. See Also: R210.
R168: FASA Star Trek RPG; "Brothers In Arms..." by Chris Bernhardt. USS Yorktown, NCC-1717 (Constitution Class Starship) Captains' log, Stardate 4100.7 (Nov. 2267) Deltaine Sector: Captain Mark Ellis reporting; this will be our last mission aboard the Yorktown. She has served well for 20 years since her birth in 2247 and, like most of her sister ships of the same class, is almost obsolete due to fast encroaching newer technologies. We are approaching the Deltaine sector to relieve a cultural assessment team on Deltaine 5. This would be an almost mundane and uneventful mission for the old girls final hoorah but for the fact contact was lost with the team enroute to station 3 days ago. I am concerned over the loss of contact as prior communications by the team had indicated some intersystem conflict was hovering over the inhabitants. As Deltaine is one of very few star systems to contain mutiple class M worlds, it is a Fleet Command imperative we do whatever is required to prevent any sort of cataclysmic disaster from occurring in the system. As the Prime Directive is still in place on the system this does not boost my confidence in our ability to resolve any issues. We'll have to trust fate to lend a hand, the next few days will be critical I fear...Actual game system knowledge not needed; you MUST be a total Trekkie and love to role play! Friday, 12:00AM - 4:00AM; One Round; All Materials Provided. Beginners Welcome; Serious, 18 & Over ONLY.

Once upon a time, as far north as north can go, there lived the greatest people that this world will ever see. They are gone now, destroyed just as the world destroys all beautiful things. All that remains are these moments we call memories... moments frozen from the flow of time. As the fragile snowflake of their perfect society melts beneath the ineveitable rising of a demonic sun, the Knights of the Order of the Stars will take up their starlight swords and battle of the host of the Mistaken on the field, the demons in the minds of their people, and the foul temptations within their own hearts. Behold the strength of their resolve in the face of certain doom! If such bravery is not enough to save their world, what else remains? Polaris is a game of knightly tragedy set in the ruins of a dying civilization. It uses a system of structured phrases and negotiations to tell the story of the decline and fall of the Knights Stellar, last defenders of the People from their own folly.
