Encompassed by the great chair is a man whose presence inspires awe, Tenser the Archmage. High above the City of Greyhawk, somewhere upon the lonely south coast of the Nyr Dyv, you and your associates trekked to answer a summons that could not be taken lightly. You are about to begin a quest to a mysterious island where lies the fabled Crook of Rao. Only the bravest can face the isle's obscure jungles, its most fearsome monsters, and its ultimate secret. R104: "CASEY JONES IS DEAD" presented by Kenneth Hite. CASEY JONES IS DEAD will eventually be a story game about occult railroading and necromancy. But right now, it needs one of its key mechanics - the engine that will govern both necromancy and making up time on railroad runs - tested and feedbacked. (Fed back? Whatever.) James Ernest came up with the basics, so I'm pretty sure they work, but I'd like to see if there's any weird bumps in the probability, how much dice rolling is fun and how much is too much, and get some ideas about exceptions to throw in, challenge and response, special cases, and similar filips. Looking for story game friendly, mechanic-minded people who don't mind rolling dice and a little bit of strategy in their stakes-resolution. Saturday, 8:00PM - 10:00PM; One Round; All Ages.

At first light a new king must be declared, a murderer must be found and peace restored or the war machine will be unleashed. One player takes on the role of Sojourn, and one takes on the role of the Land, each trying to woo the other players to their cause. The battle can only be decided by the choices of the main characters. 'The Land is rugged, dry, tough. But it's beautiful, if you know how to look at it right. And we're making it ours. It's still a place of blood and death, but that's okay. We'll make it better. Or so we thought, before Sojourn came. The City, with its smoke and its towers. Its coming to eat our Land, take it from us. it promises more than we could hope to achieve on our own. But the cost is the Land, and our souls. So we're going to fight it. And if we die, then we die. But at least we die free, on our Land.' The vast crawling city of Sojourn, with its industry, has come to the Land, a wild western setting of hardened farmers and gunslingers. When Sojourn tries to consume it all, who will be left standing? Only those who would serve or sabotage Sojourn can decide. Sunday, 10:00AM - 2:00PM; One Round; All Ages.

R162: Shock: Human Contact; "Breaking the Cycle" by the glyphpress; presented by Joshua A.C. Newman. The Academy has replaced scarcity of resources with abundance of thought, and has turned its eyes to the stars. It applies its powerful rationalist philosophy to focus the faculties of the mind to explore, to understand, and to use new understanding to improve the lives of all those within its reach... When Aeku Tazjemn first reported glimpsing a set of inhabited moons, connected with a system of "cycler" spacecraft, through the gravity telescope at Mifha, it caused an immediate controversy. Within six months of her first observation of the system, she witnessed the destruction of one of the cyclers carrying goods between the worlds. She called for a Contactor to make an immediate visit to the system, only 12 light years away, to make contact and intervene if possible to prevent the destruction from claiming the entire civilization. Seventeen years later, when the Contactor arrives, what will still exist of the society of Chwnweha - "The Free"? How will its Libertarian ideals serve or fail a society vacillating between terrorism and pacifism as its infrastructure disintegrates? And how will this rushed intervention affect the Academy's Observationist & Participationist divide? Sunday, 3:00PM - 7:00PM; One Session; 18 & Over ONLY.
