FOCUS GROUP Schedule for METATOPIA 2012Updated 10/30/12
METATOPIA Event Registration works differently from other Double Exposure events. While there are no advancement rounds, some of the events are red to start with because they are "invitation only". This does NOT mean that you are completely excluded from playing in them, only that you need to be invited. So when you send an eMail to us, you may ask to be included in those events. We will probably call you and discuss your choices with you.
Note that we are NOT sending out a questionnaire this time. We'll trust that you will pick a bunch of events you're interested in, and then we may contact you to ask if we can fit you into some other stuff.
PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR PHONE NUMBER(S) IN YOUR EMAIL SO WE CAN REACH YOU IF NECESSARY!
So send eMail with the events you would LIKE to play in, whether you are a Designer, a Helper or a Player. We will do our best to match you up with the events that you are interested in. There WILL be a Big Board at METATOPIA, and any seats which are not filled in advance CAN be filled at the convention.
You are also allowed to submit a second and third choice for events in the same time slot, which will save us time in negotiating what you can get into if your primary choice is filled already. Just make it clear what is an alternate choice so we can enter things quickly.
Also, PLEASE put down "D" events (panels and roundtables) along with others - it is important that we track interest in the various panels, and that we know where you have holes in your schedule.
Send your reservation eMail to us at email@example.com
You may ONLY reserve seats in METATOPIA 2012 events if you are pre-registered. Click here to pre-register for METATOPIA 2012 if you have not already done so.
We will reply within 48 hours with a confirmation that your requests were received. If you do NOT get a confirmation, assume that your codes are NOT received and try again. Note that you MUST include a valid eMail reply-to address for us to reach you to confirm!
F029: "New Gamer Ingenuity Products" by Gamer Ingenuity; presented by Brian Dalrymple. This invitation-only focus group will cover current Gamer Ingenuity projects in production, including a yet-to-be-titled storybook fantasy RPG and a boosted Bestiary (Pathfinder RPG - compatible). Friday, 9:00PM - 10:00PM; One Session; All Ages.
F043: "Rylera" by HitMouse Games; presented by Warren Morrison. Rylera is a story driven Fantasy Tabletop RPG that features a dynamic dual power system and four original races. Each race and nationality has a deep culture and organically grown histories, and religions. Character creation is based on a free form model, and the modifiers and math of gameplay are dramatically simplified. Players customize their characters by selecting stats, skills, and choose from diverse talent trees constructed around a percentile-based system. This focus group will help the designer to test the validity of premise execution and marketability Friday, 10:00PM - 11:00PM; One Session; All Ages.
F049: "Esoterica" by Critical-Hits; presented by Dave Chalker. A role playing game of supernatural investigators who are the only ones who can defend the world from horrific extrinsic entities by using their own skills, supernatural equipment, and drawing on the ties that define their lives. Heavily inspired by the Twenty Palaces series from Harry Connolly, The Laundry series by Charles Stross, and the TV show Burn Notice. This focus group is invitation-only. Friday, 11:00PM - 12:00AM; One Session; All Ages.
F065: "Project Atlantis" by Parenthesis Press; presented by Neal Stidham. A magical tragedy. Mechanics center on giving players control over plot outcomes, and rewarding dramatic character trait use in play. Help the designer explore this new fantasy RPG and prepare it for beta test. Saturday, 9:00AM - 10:00AM; One Session; All Ages.
F079: Titans; "A Superheroes Hack of Don't Rest Your Head" by Saint Erebus Games; presented by Brendan Conway. Instead of Don't Rest Your Head's brilliant mix of horror, urban fantasy, surrealism, nightmares, and superpowers, Titans goes straight for the idea of terrifically powerful people existing in the real world. Players play the most powerful people in the world, each with his or her own vision of the world. They struggle to bring their vision to fruition, while simultaneously straining to remain human in the face of terrible hunger and drives that separate them from the rest of humanity. Titans is meant to create a superhero experience akin to Watchmen, The Dark Knight, Superman: Red Son, Rising Stars, and Supreme Power, among others. This focus group is for the members of Evil Hat Productions. Saturday, 10:00AM - 11:00M; One Session; All Ages.
F142: Champions of Midralon; "Fine Tuning Session" by Midralon Press; presented by Irven Keppen. Champions of Midralon is a game about proud boisterous warriors bidding for the right to face monstrous challenges in single combat. In this focus group, creator Irven Keppen will be looking for feedback in order to fine tune timing mechanisms and bid mechanics. He is also looking for ideas to tweak the combat system. Saturday, 6:00PM - 7:00PM; One Session; All Ages.
F148: "Back in Black: Treading Old Ground With New Content" by Margaret Weis Productions; presented by Cam Banks. Join Margaret Weis Productions Creative Director Cam Banks in discussing a return to older licenses with a fresh look, for inspiration or lessons learned. How have the recent MWP games succeeded, and what could be done to invigorate older properties with these new ideas and ideas as yet not explored? Please be knowledgeable in general gaming. Saturday, 7:00PM - 8:00PM; One Session;
F149: "What Came Before" by Genesis of Legend Publishing; presented by Jason Pitre. This Focus Group is aimed at players who enjoy and have extensive knowledge of the d20 system, especially but not necessarily Pathfinder. This game being conceptualized is about campfire stores as told by the heroes of D&D style role playing games. Saturday, 7:00PM - 8:00PM; One Session; All Ages.
F222: "Wetwork" presented by Brian Engard. Cutting-edge technology. Mind control. Global corporations. Industrial espionage and warfare. This is the world you live in. In Wetwork, you play deniable assets employed (owned?) by corporations and sent out on dangerous missions against other corporations. You do bad things for bad people. But is that what you want? Can you fight your programming? Can you save yourself, escape the control of your Corporate Sponsor? Or will you embrace your programming, becoming a better killer, thief, saboteur? And if you do, can you keep any part of yourself? Sunday, 10:00AM - 12:00PM; One Session; All Ages.
F264: "Wanderlust Focus Group - Game Mechanics" by Phoenix Outlaw Productions; presented by Shoshana Kessock. Wanderlust is a tabletop RPG about the perils of life out in space when mankind must discover a new homeland alongside their brothers, the fae. When earth is a shattered husk and space is a void full of perils, two orphan races must come together to find their way to a new promised land.
