LARP Schedule for METATOPIA 2012Updated 10/30/12
METATOPIA Event Registration works differently from other Double Exposure events. While there are no advancement rounds, some of the events are red to start with because they are "invitation only". This does NOT mean that you are completely excluded from playing in them, only that you need to be invited. So when you send an eMail to us, you may ask to be included in those events. We will probably call you and discuss your choices with you.
Note that we are NOT sending out a questionnaire this time. We'll trust that you will pick a bunch of events you're interested in, and then we may contact you to ask if we can fit you into some other stuff.
PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR PHONE NUMBER(S) IN YOUR EMAIL SO WE CAN REACH YOU IF NECESSARY!
So send eMail with the events you would LIKE to play in, whether you are a Designer, a Helper or a Player. We will do our best to match you up with the events that you are interested in. There WILL be a Big Board at METATOPIA, and any seats which are not filled in advance CAN be filled at the convention.
You are also allowed to submit a second and third choice for events in the same time slot, which will save us time in negotiating what you can get into if your primary choice is filled already. Just make it clear what is an alternate choice so we can enter things quickly.
Also, PLEASE put down "D" events (panels and roundtables) along with others - it is important that we track interest in the various panels, and that we know where you have holes in your schedule.
Send your reservation eMail to us at firstname.lastname@example.org
You may ONLY reserve seats in METATOPIA 2012 events if you are pre-registered. Click here to pre-register for METATOPIA 2012 if you have not already done so.
We will reply within 48 hours with a confirmation that your requests were received. If you do NOT get a confirmation, assume that your codes are NOT received and try again. Note that you MUST include a valid eMail reply-to address for us to reach you to confirm!
L017: "Freeblades" by Echoes of Empires; presented by Ben Walker. Bring your team, or join one on site. Up to eight teams of five players each will take part in a tense, vicious tournament of strategy and guts! Each team consists of a Captain and five heroes. Randomly allocated rounds will be run by normal Freeblades Skirmish rules, with one side representing The Knights of Haradel and the other side The Grular Horde. A team wins by decimating the other side! The battlefield will be randomly set with full-scale scenery for each round, and actual line-of-sight will be used for each decision. The Captain must lead his team to fight cooperatively and intelligently every step of the way. Friday, 8:00PM - 12:00AM; One Round; All Ages.
L058: "Sirai" by Bully Pulpit Games; presented by Jason Morningstar. Bully Pulpit Games needs players for an alpha test of a unique hybrid live action event. Players take on the roles of powerful and influential stake-holders in the future of a developing planet on the brink of civil war. Offworld peacekeepers, local religious leaders, the powerful dictatorship and those who would topple it all have a voice in Sirai's future. No experience necessary. Two hours of tactical, political world-building and, perhaps, world destroying. Note that this alpha test will be limited to two hours and players MIGHT NOT FINISH the game. Friday, 12:00AM - 2:00AM; One Round; 18 & Over ONLY.
L066: "Fiasco LARP" by Bully Pulpit Games; presented by Jason Morningstar. Bully Pulpit Games needs players for an alpha test of the live-action Fiasco rules set. Experience with Fiasco and live action games (specifically Parlor LARP or Jeepform) helpful but not necessary. 2 Hours of experimental exploration that may or may not be fun but will definitely be productive and interesting. Note that this alpha test will be limited to two hours and players MIGHT NOT FINISH the game. Saturday, 9:00AM - 11:00AM; One Round; 18 & Over ONLY.
L082: "Fiasco LARP" by Bully Pulpit Games; presented by Jason Morningstar. Saturday, 11:00AM - 1:00PM; One Round; 18 & Over ONLY.
L107: The Avatar System; "Keys, Harmonies, and Tipping Scales" by Double Exposure, Inc.; presented by Dering Sprague. The Bazaar is in shambles. Massive toxic energy clouds threaten to spread over Proper, and wreak terrible damage to the environment. While the elder Avatars are taking a direct approach to the catastrophe in the Nexus Bazaar, a shadowy entity is organizing the youth of the Nexus to try an alternate approach. This is a chance for the youth to show their elders, that brute force, will not always win the day. NOTE: This slot is restricted to Avatar System players with Avatar PC's of level 9 or less. New players are very welcome! Saturday, 2:00PM - 6:00PM; One Round; All Ages.
L164: Champions Live Action; "Age of Chrome" by Echoes of Empires; presented by Ben Walker. Heroes in the age of pouches and improbable poses. Play as Lady Blood Death or Savage Blade Spawn or other over the top 90's craziness. Engage in the grim darkness of the dark grimness of the grimy dark. Please have a sense of humor as we try for a deconstruction of the speculation age of comics. This is a different balance of power than one might be used to in the standard Champions: Live action. Killing is easier, defense is harder, we are trying to find a new balance to keep the game fun but more dangerous. Costumes encouraged. Saturday, 8:00PM - 12:00AM; One Round; All Ages.
L206: The Avatar System; "The Maze of Death" by Double Exposure, Inc.; presented by Dering Sprague. Toxic hell is threatening to spew out over Nexus Proper, from the Bazaar. Quarantined away, at the heart of the complex, are the controls and their recently assimilated master. Our epic heroes could have gone with anything. But, they have deliberately chosen, to pit themselves against a maze of sealed underground tunnels. Underground tunnels, with security systems designed by a mad genius. Security systems, designed to terminate avatar life, if it so much as thinks the wrong thoughts. So if you think you have the chops, the goods, the gear, and/or the chutzpah to follow in their footsteps, c'mon along! There's plenty of hazards, traps, and nightmares for everyone. NOTE: While Avatar System players, of any level, are welcome to sign up, this session will be designed with a challenge level for level 10+ characters. Saturday, 12:00AM - 4:00AM; One Round; All Ages.
L265: Echoes of Empires; "Steam Drive" by Echoes of Empires; presented by Ben Walker. Vampires, Werewolves, Fae and other more unmentionable things in a race across the continent through train, carriage, horse and zeppelin set in the Echoes of Empires Victorian Vampires setting. This is an alpha test of our vehicle system. Your input is well appreciated. Sunday, 3:00PM - 7:00PM; One Round; All Ages.
