ROLE PLAYING & STORY GAME Schedule for METATOPIA 2012

Updated 10/30/12

METATOPIA Event Registration works differently from other Double Exposure events. While there are no advancement rounds, some of the events are red to start with because they are "invitation only". This does NOT mean that you are completely excluded from playing in them, only that you need to be invited. So when you send an eMail to us, you may ask to be included in those events. We will probably call you and discuss your choices with you.

Note that we are NOT sending out a questionnaire this time. We'll trust that you will pick a bunch of events you're interested in, and then we may contact you to ask if we can fit you into some other stuff.

PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR PHONE NUMBER(S) IN YOUR EMAIL SO WE CAN REACH YOU IF NECESSARY!

So send eMail with the events you would LIKE to play in, whether you are a Designer, a Helper or a Player. We will do our best to match you up with the events that you are interested in. There WILL be a Big Board at METATOPIA, and any seats which are not filled in advance CAN be filled at the convention.

You are also allowed to submit a second and third choice for events in the same time slot, which will save us time in negotiating what you can get into if your primary choice is filled already. Just make it clear what is an alternate choice so we can enter things quickly.

Also, PLEASE put down "D" events (panels and roundtables) along with others - it is important that we track interest in the various panels, and that we know where you have holes in your schedule.

Send your reservation eMail to us at m2012@dexposure.com

You may ONLY reserve seats in METATOPIA 2012 events if you are pre-registered. Click here to pre-register for METATOPIA 2012 if you have not already done so.

We will reply within 48 hours with a confirmation that your requests were received. If you do NOT get a confirmation, assume that your codes are NOT received and try again. Note that you MUST include a valid eMail reply-to address for us to reach you to confirm!

Today, you're wondering why a pit bull is breaking into a car with a cinder block. Is it because he can't use keys or because the owner of the car pissed him off? This is a game about a family of homicidal cannibals, and what happens when a group of unsuspecting city folk wander into their territory. It won't be pretty. The overall framework is similar to Fiasco (in that there is a structure to the game session, and stories progress through a set of basic plot points), but the actual mechanics focus instead on various emotions (Hate, Envy, Fear, etc) that arise in conjunction with the characters' actions. R271: The King's Council; "An Apocalypse World Hack" by Saint Erebus Games; presented by Brendan Conway. The King's Council is a Game of Thrones-inspired hack of Apocalypse World, lovingly borrowing elements from Monsterhearts, as well. The King's Council is not about the vast, world-spanning epic of A Song of Ice and Fire. The King's Council is instead specifically focused in on the equivalent of the Small Council from A Song of Ice and Fire. The Small Council is the group of powerful men and women who ostensibly advise the King, but who scheme and conflict and battle with one another, all in search of their own ascent. The King's Council uses general Apocalypse World style moves and system in order to create an experience of intrigue, conflict, blood, and sex. This particular test is with a relatively baseline system, meaning that a lot of the bells and whistles familiar to those who have experienced Apocalypse World and its children may not be present. But the core of the system, which is ultimately the generator of this style of game, is what will be tested. Sunday, 3:00PM - 7:00PM; One Round; All Ages.
