Appendix C: Combat Skills

Edged Weapons I (Y). Cost: 5 AP. Stat Requirements: AGI 3. Stacking Requirement: None. An Avatar with this Skill is able to use an Edged Weapon.

Edged Weapons II (Y). Cost: 10 AP. Stat Requirements: AGI 6. Stacking Requirement: Edged Weapons I. An Avatar with this Skill receives a bonus of +6 OR when using an Edged Weapon in Short Range Combat.

Edged Weapons III (Y+). Cost: 15 AP. Stat Requirements: AGI 9. Stacking Requirement: Edged Weapons II. An Avatar with this Skill receives a bonus of +15 OR and +5 DR when using an Edged Weapon in Short Range Combat. This bonus is NOT cumulative with other Edged Weapons Skills.

Edged Weapons IV (Y+). Cost: 20 AP. Stat Requirements: AGI 15. Stacking Requirement: Edged Weapons III. An Avatar with this Skill receives a bonus of +30 OR and +10 DR when using an Edged Weapon in Short Range Combat. This bonus is NOT cumulative with other Edged Weapons Skills.

Edged Weapons V (Y+). Cost: 25 AP. Stat Requirements: AGI 20. Stacking Requirement: Edged Weapons IV. An Avatar with this Skill receives a bonus of +45 OR and +15 DR when using an Edged Weapon in Short Range Combat. This bonus is NOT cumulative with other Edged Weapons Skills.

Blunt Weapons I (Y). Cost: 5 AP. Stat Requirements: STR 5, CON 5. Stacking Requirement: None. An Avatar with this Skill is able to use a Blunt Weapon.

Blunt Weapons II (Y). Cost: 10 AP. Stat Requirements: STR 10, CON 10. Stacking Requirement: Blunt Weapons I. An Avatar with this Skill receives a bonus of +8 OR when using a Blunt Weapon in Short Range Combat.

Blunt Weapons III (Y). Cost: 15 AP. Stat Requirements: STR 15, CON 15. Stacking Requirement: Blunt Weapons II. An Avatar with this Skill receives a bonus of +20 OR when using a Blunt Weapon in Short Range Combat. This bonus is NOT cumulative with other Blunt Weapons Skills.

Blunt Weapons IV (Y). Cost: 20 AP. Stat Requirements: STR 20, CON 20. Stacking Requirement: Blunt Weapons III. An Avatar with this Skill receives a bonus of +35 OR when using a Blunt Weapon in Short Range Combat. This bonus is NOT cumulative with other Blunt Weapons Skills.

Cleaving Weapons I (Y). Cost: 5 AP. Stat Requirements: AGI 4, CON 4. Stacking Requirement: None. An Avatar with this Skill is able to use a Cleaving Weapon with a Critical Threshold of 10.

Cleaving Weapons II (Y+). Cost: 10 AP. Stat Requirements: AGI 8, CON 8. Stacking Requirement: Cleaving Weapons I. An Avatar with this Skill receives a bonus of +6 OR and +2 DR when using a Cleaving Weapon with a Critical Threshold of 9.

Cleaving Weapons III (Y+). Cost: 15 AP. Stat Requirements: AGI 15, CON 15. Stacking Requirement: Cleaving Weapons II. An Avatar with this Skill receives a bonus of +15 OR and +4 DR when using a Cleaving Weapon with a Critical Threshold of 8. This bonus is NOT cumulative with other Cleaving Weapons Skills.

Cleaving Weapons IV (Y+). Cost: 20 AP. Stat Requirements: AGI 20, CON 20. Stacking Requirement: Cleaving Weapons III. An Avatar with this Skill receives a bonus of +30 OR and +6 DR when using a Cleaving Weapon with a Critical Threshold of 7. This bonus is NOT cumulative with other Cleaving Weapons Skills.

Marksmanship I (Y). Cost: 5 AP. Stat Requirements: AGI 5, CUN 5. Stacking Requirement: None. An Avatar with this Skill is able to use a Long Range Weapon (but not a Throwing Weapon).

Marksmanship II (Y). Cost: 10 AP. Stat Requirements: AGI 10, CUN 10. Stacking Requirement: Marksmanship I. An Avatar with this Skill receives a bonus of +10 DR (added to Offensive Calculation ONLY) when using ANY Long Range Attack, except Throwing Weapons and (K) Attacks. Note that Area effects are not considered Long Range Attacks.

Marksmanship III (Y). Cost: 15 AP. Stat Requirements: AGI 15, CUN 15. Stacking Requirement: Marksmanship II. An Avatar with this Skill receives a bonus of +20 DR (added to Offensive Calculation ONLY) when using ANY Long Range Attack, except Throwing Weapons and (K) Attacks. This bonus is NOT cumulative with other Marksmanship Skills. Note that Area effects are not considered Long Range Attacks.

Throwing Weapons II (Y). Cost: 15 AP. Stat Requirements: AGI 10, STR 10. Stacking Requirement: Throwing Weapons I. An Avatar with this Skill receives a bonus of +10 DR (added to Offensive Calculation ONLY) when using a Throwing Weapon in long-range combat.

Throwing Weapons III (Y). Cost: 20 AP. Stat Requirements: AGI 15, STR 15. Stacking Requirement: Throwing Weapons II. An Avatar with this Skill receives a bonus of +25 DR (added to Offensive Calculation ONLY) when using a Throwing Weapon in long-range combat. This bonus is NOT cumulative with other Throwing Weapons Skills.

Martial Arts I (Y+). Cost: 20 AP. Stat Requirements: AGI 15. Stacking Requirement: None. An Avatar with this Skill gains a bonus of +10 OR and +15 DR for all Short Range (R) Combat (only), as long as he is not holding any Weapon (other than those specifically designated as a Martial Arts Weapon) or wearing any Armor (other than those specifically designated as Martial Arts Armor). This bonus is applied both when he is attacking and when he is attacked. The bonus is not to be used for any other Action.

An Avatar with this Skill gains a bonus of +20 OR and +25 DR for all Short Range (R) Combat (only), as long as he is not holding any Weapon (other than those specifically designated as a Martial Arts Weapon) or wearing any Armor (other than those specifically designated as Martial Arts Armor). This bonus is applied both when he is attacking and when he is attacked. The bonus is not to be used for any other Action. This bonus is NOT cumulative with other Martial Arts Skills.

Martial Arts III (Y+). Cost: 30 AP. Stat Requirements: AGI 25. Stacking Requirement: Martial Arts II. An Avatar with this Skill gains a bonus of +35 OR and +40 DR for all Short Range (R) Combat (only), as long as he is not holding any Weapon (other than those specifically designated as a Martial Arts Weapon) or wearing any Armor (other than those specifically designated as Martial Arts Armor). This bonus is applied both when he is attacking and when he is attacked. The bonus is not to be used for any other Action. This bonus is NOT cumulative with other Martial Arts Skills.

Martial Arts IV (Y+). Cost: 40 AP. Stat Requirements: AGI 40. Stacking Requirement: Martial Arts III OR Enhanced Martial Arts II. An Avatar with this Skill gains a bonus of +50 OR for all Short Range (R) Combat (only) and +60 DR vs. all Long Range or Short Range (P) Targetted Attacks, as long as he is not holding any Weapon (other than those specifically designated as a Martial Arts Weapon) or wearing any Armor (other than those specifically designated as Martial Arts Armor). This bonus is applied both when he is attacking and when he is attacked. The bonus is not to be used for any other Action. This bonus is NOT cumulative with other Martial Arts Skills.

Dodging I (Y+). Cost: 10 AP. Stat Requirements: AGI 5, CUN 5. Stacking Requirement: None. An Avatar with this Skill receives a bonus of +10 DR vs. any (P) Targetted Attack.

Dodging II (Y+). Cost: 20 AP. Stat Requirements: AGI 10, CUN 10. Stacking Requirement: Dodging I. An Avatar with this Skill receives a bonus of +25 DR vs. any (P) Targetted Attack This bonus is NOT cumulative with other Dodging Skills.

Dodging III (Y+). Cost: 30 AP. Stat Requirements: AGI 15, CUN 15. Stacking Requirement: Dodging II. An Avatar with this Skill receives a bonus of +40 DR vs. any (P) Targetted Attack. This bonus is NOT cumulative with other Dodging Skills.

Focus Attack (Y). Cost: 5 AP. Stat Requirements: AGI 5. Stacking Requirement: None. An Avatar with this Skill will receive a bonus of +5 OR during Short Range (R) attacks that HE initiates.

Escape Combat (Y). Cost: 5 AP. Stat Requirements: AGI 5. Stacking Requirement: None. An Avatar with this Skill receives a +10 bonus to his Flee calculation when attempting a Flee Action.

Acrobatics (Y+). Cost: 10 AP. Stat Requirements: AGI 10. Stacking Requirement: None. An Avatar with this Skill gains a bonus of +10 DR vs. all (R) Targetted Attacks. This bonus does not apply to Offensive DR. This Skill cannot be used if he is wearing any armor or other Item which has ANY OR penalty.

Fluid Motion (Y+). Cost: 20 AP. Stat Requirements: AGI 20. Stacking Requirement: Acrobatics. An Avatar with this Skill gains a bonus of +10 OR and +25 DR during all Short Range (R) Targetted Attacks. This bonus is applied whether he attacks or is attacked, but does not apply to Offensive DR for Long Range Attacks. This Skill cannot be used if he is wearing any armor or other Item which has ANY OR penalty.

Shield Parry I (Y+). Cost: 5 AP. Stat Requirements: AGI 4, CON 4. Stacking Requirement: None. An Avatar with this Skill is able to use a single-handed shield in Short Range (R) Combat while holding any other single-handed Weapon.

Shield Parry II (Y+). Cost: 10 AP. Stat Requirements: AGI 8, CON 8. Stacking Requirement: Shield Parry I. An Avatar with this Skill receives a bonus of +10 DR when using a single-handed shield in Short Range (R) Combat vs. a Targetted Attack.

Shield Parry III (Y+). Cost: 15 AP. Stat Requirements: AGI 15, CON 15. Stacking Requirement: Shield Parry II. An Avatar with this Skill receives a bonus of +25 DR when using a single-handed shield in Short Range or Long Range (R) Combat vs. a Targetted Attack. This bonus is not cumulative with any other Shield Parry Skills.

Shield Parry IV (Y+). Cost: 20 AP. Stat Requirements: AGI 20, CON 20. Stacking Requirement: Shield Parry III. An Avatar with this Skill receives a bonus of +40 DR when using a single-handed shield in Short Range or Long Range (P) Combat vs. a Targetted Attack. This bonus is not cumulative with any other Shield Parry Skills.
