Welcome to Envoy!

Double Exposure is proud to present our newest endeavor, the Envoy Program. In recent months, we found ourselves knocked sideways by inspiration, as a profound reality of the gaming industry suddenly became clear. After two decades of creating excitement and innovation, it's time for us to take our vision and ability to execute grand plans to the next level.

The Envoy Program is built on a concept so obvious and so vital that groups have been trying from all corners to address it. None of those efforts have panned out because in order for any of it to work, it ALL has to work.

As an industry, gaming struggles to succeed at a business level - great games are being produced but only reaching a small percentage of potential customers. Convention support is tricky; requests come from all sides and it takes time, energy and savvy to sort out which conventions to support and how. Conventions are so busy with the business of producing their shows that finding competent game masters is hit or miss. The same is true for game stores, many of which devote most of their time to running the business, leaving very little to schedule desperately needed promotional events.

Our goal is nothing short of unification of the fractured pieces of the national gaming industry, to everyone's benefit. We invite you to join us at the beginning of this exciting process!

If you represent a game company, visit our Companies page and fill out the short form to receive a comprehensive document called the "Game Company Perspective", in which we clearly state how the Envoy Program can produce a complete organized play system for you and your games across the country.

If you represent a convention (even if it is a one-day "Game Day"), visit our Conventions page and fill out the short form to find out how your convention can participate in the Envoy Program and benefit from the addition of many qualified and certified game masters who will represent our game companies and run a variety of games, all following whatever rules and structure you've already set out for your event, and at no additional cost or work for you. They will even bring their own copies of the games!

If you represent a game store, visit our Stores page and fill out the short form to find out how your store can participate in the Envoy Program and benefit from the addition of many qualified and certified game masters who will represent our game companies and run continuous demonstrations at times that work with your schedule, all for the purpose of generating sales to players who may have no other opportunity to actually see the games played. All at no additional cost or work for you; they will even bring their own copies of the games!

If you represent a meetup group or other similar organization (no matter how small), visit our Groups & Organizations page and fill out the short form to find out how your group can participate in the Envoy Program and benefit from qualified and certified game masters who will represent our game companies and and run a variety of games whenever and wherever you hold your meetings. All at no additional cost or work for you; they will even bring their own copies of the games. We will even help you to develop a Game Day or larger event if you are interested!

If you are a game master, visit our Heralds page and fill out the short form to find out how to join the Envoy Program and represent your geographic region by running our companies' games at conventions, game stores and group meetups. You will be trained and certified in each game you are interested in running, and receive your own copy of that game straight from the company, to bring to each venue. The more times you run games, the higher in the ranks you climb, earning more and more perks, freebies and prestige!

  • The Envoy Gateway

Double Exposure is proud to announce the grand opening of the Envoy Gateway. FREE membership begins today at http://www.envoygateway.com. We invite you to explore our Virtual Demo Headquarters to discover scores of online tabletop games and play them with experienced teachers on a variety of free and paid platforms.

Established in 2014, Double Exposure's Envoy program is the gold standard for tabletop game demo teams across North America - representing over 75 game publishers at physical conventions, stores and meetup groups of every type. Unfortunately, in 2020, the pandemic sidelined hundreds of Envoy's Heralds (gamemasters) as face-to-face gaming was put on hold as a result of the ongoing crisis.

Recently, online tabletop gaming platforms such as Sovranti, Tabletop Simulator, Tabletopia and Board Game Arena are celebrating a new level of visibility as players shift to an online format. Although these platforms create opportunities to game together over untold distances, the experience happens in a vacuum without any of the trappings of tabletop gaming gatherings. The Envoy Gateway is built to bridge that gap in an ongoing, persistent, and flexible way.

Our October calendar is already bursting with exciting games from dozens of publishers. Visitors can search by game mechanics, genres, age range and other parameters to find new games to play. Registered members can reserve "seats" to play those games, knowing that every event will be managed by an experienced Herald who will teach the rules. Browse information on hundreds of games, on your own schedule, all presented to simulate the experience of browsing at a convention or a store.

The Gateway's powerful calendar also showcases special events such as Publisher and Designer live playthroughs and other community gatherings. Companies and retailers will feature exciting promotions and flash sales, and there will even be playtesting opportunities from Publishers and Designers around the globe.

Inaugural events during the first week of October include live interactive broadcasts from some familiar faces in our industry: Stephen Buonocore, Ignacy Trzewiczek, Gil Hova, Curt Covert and Heather O'Neill. (Links will be listed on the calendar - log in for more details!)

Over the next few months, we expect the Gateway to grow and evolve to include regional convention communities, online retail establishments and game clubs. Feedback from members will surely prompt us to add new features that we can't even imagine yet. For now, we invite tabletop gamers from around the world to visit, learn to play some great online tabletop games, and make new friends that you'll be able to "see" more than once a year!
